Gosh, this guy is our Defence Minister. A very sad and sorry day for Malaysia. He once suggested the unbelievable, he wanted to expand the Tentera Wataniah and station a platoon of 300 soldiers in each of the 222 Parliamentary constituencies? What sort of external armed threats do we face in say, the middle of Kuala Lumpur? All this only makes sense if the soldiers are to be used against internal “threats”. 60,000 soldiers across the country to “menjaga keamanan negara” — what is the government up to here? Furthermore most of our regular Infantry Battalions are under strength.
More here...Now he has the "deadly foot in the mouth disease!" Defence Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said Chin Peng's return would be an insult to the families of nearly 50,000 British colonial and government troops who died during the “Malayan Emergency”.
In full from Malaysiakini. Really? We have an incompetent and not so knowledgeable Minister of Defence. No? Also why the double standards?
See images of other Communist Terrorists here, in Malaysia.Hello Zahid, how about this person? An enemy of ours,
Shamsiah Fakeh ? Shamsiah and her family applied to the Malaysian government for permission to return to the country from 1985 onwards. Following the terms of the 1989 peace agreement signed between the CPM and the Government of Malaysia in
Haadyai, Thailand, permission was finally granted on July 23 1994 and Shamsiah returned along with her husband, their three sons and their four grandchildren. Upon their arrival, the family was met by
Special Branch officers who took them to a resort and for about 10 days, they were debriefed and briefed on the local customs and political scenario in Malaysia.
Wow, she even got buried in Malaysia, she passed away on October 20, 2008 at the residence of her son, Jamaluddin Ibrahim, due to respiratory failure and was buried at the Sungai Besi Muslim cemetery. Zahid, nampak sangat kan? Has this anything to do with ethnicity? I always believed in this dictum when in the Army during those days of the insurgency, "that a good communist was a dead one".
Here is a rebuttal by
Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Idris who is more qualified than Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who I believe will make a better, Minster of Defence :
The Defense Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement that 50,000 British colonial and government troops died during the “Malayan Emergency”
is incorrect over exaggerated and giving the terrorists too much credit. Records show the following ,that from 1948 till the end of the emergency in July 1960.
1. Regular Police Killed..........511
2. Special Constables killed ....593
3. Auxiliary Police killed .........242
4. Military forces killed.............519
Total Malaysian Security forces killed....1.665
Total civilians killed ............2473
Total Terrorists killed............6.710
I don't have the number of British and Colonial troops killed but I estimate that it could not be more than 400 hundred in all. The war did not end with the ending of the emergency and continued till 1989 and I would add the Malaysian security forces casualties to about 150 killed during this period. The terrorists killed during this period would be an estimated 1,150 killed
I would put the figure of 2,215 the total of Security forces local and foreign kill during the entire period of the war and. Terrorists total would be estimated 7,860
I would go along that Chin Peng should never be allowed to set foot in this country ever again but having said that "Why the hell did we make a peace deal with an enemy who was all but totally defeated and
promised him in an an international treaty the right of return "?I shudder that this incompetent, who is the Minister of Defence, insults the fighting capabilities of our warriors of yester years, those who saved our country from a Communist takeover, yes, those who died and were maimed. Have you ever heard him speak English? You will cringe, when you hear him and he is our Minister of Defence! God bless us all if we ever go to war-edit.
