Boycott's a stupid idea, boycotting of American goods will somehow lead to the end of the Israel-Palestine conflict, I doubt it. I am bothered about a lot of people going about stating that the entire Jewish people are ought to be wiped out. Most of our foreign investors are from America itself, and they employ thousands upon thousands of Malaysians. Remember when Western Digital announced closing shop in Sarawak , the state government begged/pleaded to the US computer hard disk drive manufacturer Western Digital to reconsider shuttering its Sarawak operations and laying off all 1,500 employees. I guess the calls for this boycott only resonates amongst Government employees? I have not started on trade yet.

Okay so the American can leave Malaysia, already our people are losing jobs during this recession. You think that will bring peace between Israel and Palestine, more likely we will end up like the Palestinians, unemployed and destitute. Anyway what's going on in Darfur, where militias backed by the Arab-dominated Sudanese government have murdered more than 300,000 people, mostly from minority ethnic groups.There is not even a beep from Malaysia. Let us talk about Sudan, more are being slaughtered there than in Gaza, the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) condemned the double standards of the Arab and Islamic positions in dealing with the safety and security of civilians both in Darfur and Gaza. Ahmed Hussein Adam, the spokesperson of the rebel JEM said his movement is observes with deep regret and sorrow the political, diplomatic and humanitarian mobilizations for the civilians in Gaza, Palestine while these countries adopted a dismissive attitude for the safety and security of civilians in Darfur when Khartoum committed genocide and crimes against humanity in Darfur.

"What must be condemned here are double standards of the Arab position, which turned a blind eye to the crimes committed by the Sudanese government in Darfur where hundreds of thousands of civilians had been killed by the army and militias loyal to the government," he stressed.Ahmed further said "this position reflects a mental disorder in the Arab behavior which considers blood of the people of Darfur is less important than the blood of the people of Gaza. He added "this behavioral pattern deserves stopping to address the mental-based discrimination in race and color". So why is Malaysia not condemning Sudan, we know the answer to this obvious question.

This boycott thingy will not work, there is a very well articulated letter in Malaysiakini on the hypocrisy of the has been, Mahathir, written by a person named Ken, he starts of with. I refer to the Malaysiakini report Mahathir: Boycott US products and their currency. Here are some choice extracts:

As a man who has ‘never made a mistake’ and who is ‘speckless’, we can expect him to keep this record clean by openly showing Malaysians that he is not a hypocrite in his call to boycott things American. We can therefore expect the Tun to stop using all forms of computers (laptops, servers, etc) as they are largely the creation of Americans and are enabled by American technologies and products such as Intel/AMD microprocessors, Microsoft Windows operating system, Linux/Unix servers, routers (Cisco), Internet Explorer, Firefox, Microsoft Office, etc.

In fact, we can expect him to shut down his Chedet site as its continued operation would contribute to the coffers of firms such as Microsoft, Intel/AMD, Cisco, HP/Sun/Dell, etc.Will Mahathir do all these things to back up his call to boycott the US or is he going to openly prove to all of us once and for all that he is nothing but a mere hypocrite?
