Left: A tragic victim of the National Service aged only 18 years old, Too Hui Min. My heartfelt condolences to her family-editLeave it to the MCA, to spin for the scraps to be cast in their way, to try and give a picture that they are taking action and everyone in the National Service is fine and dandy.
Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said yesterday this would include requiring trainees to provide a more up-to-date and indepth details of their health condition on derclaration forms. They spin for their masters in UMNO. Who is paying for that? More than RM500 million is spent on the NS, as it is, the cost has escalated and is still rising. The money spent could better be utilised for bright and intelligent students of the various races.
When a soldier falls for his country, we call that a sacrifice, "berkorban untuk negara". We, soldiers used to say, "Biar berkorban untul negara, jangan mampus untuk negara", it is a suitable analogy with regards to the National Service. Tragically these young lives are being wasted.
Do not these dimwits get it, children are dying. Most parents are against the so called National Service. National Service is to boost up forces for an external enemy. In three months, there is no way you can foster unity and tolerance. When the BN government led by UMNO supremacists
(Ketuanan Melayu) shove patriotism down the throats of the people repeatedly, tragedies are just waiting to take place. "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" a quote by Samuel Johnson is a perfect analogy for UMNOspeak. Racist policies used to oppress the minorities in education, contracts, religion
etc, etc, etc, what does one expect, tolerance and understanding to take place in a mere 3 months #$%$#!!!! What a joke?
Just level the playing field. Use one examination as qualification for entry into Public Universities. Matriculation is an easy ride into Public Universities for mediocre students, who have lower grades in SPM. Whereas brilliant high scoring students are denied places in Public Universities by virtue of race. They are forced to sit for the toughest exam in Malaysia , the STPM, period! You know, what is the funny part? They do two years, become high achievers, yet still denied entry into disciplnes of their choice. Whilst their low achieving friends in matriculation, will already have a head start in the University. Again the mediocre ones, get served the best on a platter, plus lucrative scholarships.
Here is comparison
between matriculation and STPM. Remember that minorities too pay taxes. Why is it so difficult to understand that the minorities are Malaysians?
They too have been maimed and sacrificed their lives to defend this country. When the playing field and opportunities are levelled, loyalty, tolerance and love for this country will automatically fall into place. What is now being
perpetuated only breeds resentment. It is of the government's own making. The cure for this malady, is seen by all and sundry, the people who are blind and ignorant of this are, the Barisan Nasional Government. The only way is by applying pressure on the BN to scrape the NS programme, failing to do so would mean another 15 or so deaths until the 13th General Election. If PR does not takeover with the crossovers from Sabah and Sarawak, there will be more grief for the families of the NS trainees.
The death knell to the NS could be the results of the 13th General Elections. I hope.
