Pada 20 Nov 1986 lebih kurang jam 0730 sekumpulan RKK dari Mk Tek di Tapah, Perak berkekuatan 6 LLP yang diketuai oleh PW I UPON AK BANTIE telah bergerak ke PP 6870 untuk mengesan kehadiran musuh berpandukan laporan yang diterima dari pihak Polis bahawa 7 orang PGK dikatakan akan mendapatkan bekalan makanan di sekitar PP tersebut. Semasa dalam perjalanan kawasan tersebut, pihak PK telah melihat 2 orang berpakaian gelap memungut cabai dan buah limau di kebun limau dijarak 600 ke 700 meter dari kedudukan PK. Dengan menggunakan binokular, dilihat 2 orang tersebut bergerak masuk ke dalam belukar yang berhampiran dan pihak PK terus bergerak merapati kedudukan tersebut.
Bagaimanapun pihak PK tidak mengesyaki apa-apa bilamana didapati orang Asli sedang memesin getah berhampiran kawasan tersebut dan juga orang Asli itu mengatakan mereka tidak tahu apa-apa. Semasa kumpulan RKK tersebut meneruskan pergerakan, PW I UPON AK BANTIE telah melihat kesan manusia memasuki kawasan belukar di GR 685705 dan beliau terus memberi isyarat dan mengarahkan anggota-anggotanya yang lain masuk ke dalam belukar mengikuti jejak yang dikesan. Dalam masa lebih kurang 3 minit dan dijarak lebih kuarng 10 ke 15 meter dari kesan yang dijumpai, 1017680 KPL HENRY AK UBONG telah melihat satu lembaga yang disangkanya Orang Asli. Bagaimanapun setelah dicabar, serentak dengan itu kedengaran senjata dicekah dan tembak menembak terus berlaku . Tembak menembak berlaku lebih kurang jam 0930 dan berlarutan selama lebih kurang 20 minit.
Dalam kejadian tersebut KPL HENRY telah terkena tembakan di bahagian atas lutut kiri dan meninggal dunia di tempat kejadian lebih kurang 3 jam kemudian. Setelah pengelidahan dibuat, satu beg galas berisi dengan berbagai jenis makanan serta lain-lain peralatan kepunyaan PGK dijumpai. Disamping itu kesan darah juga dijumpai dan kesan darah tersebut dipercayai sekurang-kurangnya 2 PGK mendapat cedera dan seorang daripadanya parah dan dipercayai mati di tempat lain.
